Shooting Let Them Eat Cake!

AWA DANCE

The shooting process of Let Them Eat Cake! was very intense, and overall such an enriching experience. I never realised that it could take hours and a team of five to get one five second shot! Being around all the cameras in the studio was a little intimidating at first, but soon I got fully immersed in the process of creating the film. My favourite part was probably smashing the cake – we had three Aldi cakes to practise on first before we filmed the real thing. It was one of the scenes I was most nervous for as we only had two real cakes, and two chances to get the perfect shot! It’s fair to say though that me, Sky and Alma really went for it when the moment came – I think our faces say it all! I also loved the costumes and the process of choosing the colours and materials – Emilio made us feel like princesses. We had an amazing team supporting us every day with Avatâra leading the way with her vision, Gary mastering the camera angles, Sherisse pulling off tricks with hair and make-up and Anna always on top of all logistics, even offering a nice cup of tea when needed the most! In reflection, it was an experience that I’m so grateful to have had and to have shared with such inspiring people!
